ASTYM
“Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization” is a very effective tool that is used in our clinic to address soft tissue dysfunction. Overuse injuries and repetitive trauma can result in areas of fibrosis or scar tissue creating dysfunction and pain. ASTYM addresses the fibrosis by mechanically breaking down the dysfunctional tissue and taking advantage of the body’s natural tissue remodeling process. This very effective technique has great outcomes for tendonitis and repetitive overuse injuries regardless of how long you have had the condition. Jeff has been a certified ASTYM clinician for the past 4 years and has helped many patients through this very effective treatment technique. He will explain more about ASTYM if it is appropriate for your condition. Meanwhile, you can find more info at www.astym.com.- Back to top

Diastasis Rehabiliation
Pre and Post natal care to address a separation of the rectus abdominis muscle which most typically occurs during pregnancy. Jeff Chandler has been trained in this exercise technique by expert Julie Tupler, author of Lose Your Mummy Tummy and creator of the Tupler Technique. You can learn more at www.diastasisrehab.com.

Neck and Back Pain
About 80 percent of the adults in the U.S. have been bothered by back pain at some point. Physical therapy intervention of your neck and back pain has been very effective in relieving pain and restoring function. Manual Therapy plus exercise is widely supported in the research as the best approach to more effective and faster recovery. Manual therapy techniques may include myofascial release, soft tissue and joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, manipulation, and ASTYM. Therapeutic exercise may consist of stretching, strengthening, postural retraining and back education. Your therapist will design a customized treatment program specifically for you.

Total Joint Replacement
Total joint replacement represents a significant advance in the treatment of painful and disabling joint problems. Total joint replacement can be performed on any joints of the body, including the hip, knee, ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers. Of these procedures, hip and knee total joint replacements are by far the most common.
Post Surgical Rehabilitation
Immediately following surgery you may have swelling, pain, stiffness, loss of motion, weakness, decreased function, scar tissue development, and difficulty walking or going up and down stairs. Physical therapy can help to address these issues. During your treatment, specific exercises will be provided to perform at home and in the clinic to regain your strength and range of motion.

Sacroiliac Dysfunction
The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) bridges the triangular sacral bone, at the end of the spine and the pelvis bone in the hip. This joint acts as a shock absorbing structure during the activities such as walking and running. The abnormal or awkward twisting movements of the body in the course of sports activity can lead to its irritation and dysfunction. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction can result in back pain and pain in the leg. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction can result from too much mobility (hypermobility) such as after a pregnancy or traumatic injury or too little mobility (hypomobility) which can result from age and flexibility deficits. Your physical therapist will determine the best course of treatment for your SIJ dysfunction based on a thorough exam.

Biomechanical Assessment
Individuals who participate in running, walking, sports and who stand for long periods of time are susceptible to overuse injuries. A comprehensive evaluation of the foot and lower extremity, pelvic alignment, flexibility and strength will help us to identify key areas to effectively treat such conditions as:
Tendonitis (ie. peroneal, Achilles, posterior tibialis, patellar)
Hallux Valgus
ITBand Syndrome
Chondromalacia Patella
Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome
Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction
PiriformisSyndrome
Low Back Pain

Custom Orthotics
Alignment dysfunction of the foot and ankle can lead to excessive stress on the lower extremity and spine causing inflammation and pain. Customized foot inserts are designed to maintain your foot in a neutral functional position which reduces forces placed on tendons and joints.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
There are several factors can lead to sensation of dizziness or vertigo. A common cause of vertigo is a condition called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV. Physical therapy treatment for this sometimes debilitating condition can be very effective and results can be achieved in just a few visits. Your Physician and Physical Therapist will determine the best course of treatment for your specific condition.

Arthritis Management Program
The primary goals of managing a chronic condition such as arthritis is to reduce pain, regain function, mobility, strength and flexibility and prevent disability. You will be educated on arthritis and how to manage it on a daily basis through appropriate exercises, education emphasizing joint protection, pain management and the use of heat or cold therapy.

Fall Prevention and Balance Training
More than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States (Hornbrook et al. 1994; Hausdorff et al. 2001). Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths. They are also the most common cause of nonfatal injuries and hospital admissions for trauma (CDC 2005). Needless to say, falls among older adults are serious and require attention. Several factors may lead to falls in older adults including decreased strength, balance, flexibility, vision, vestibular deficits, inactivity and taking certain medications. Your physical therapist will help identify key areas of impairments that are causing your falls. From this assessment your therapist will develop a customized program focusing on such things as balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and education on preventing falls. The goal of this program is to reduce the risk of falls and create a greater and safer quality of life.
